Stew Goodwin returns to Lifetime Learning to teach this two-part, Zoom-only course on populist autocrats. Populist authoritarians have been sprinkled throughout history. They’ve shared certain characteristics which might be informative for us. Stew will discuss them and explore two examples. First, the 15th-century Florentine friar Girolamo Savonarola. Then, the Louisiana politician of the 1920s and early 30s, Huey Long. He will consider each of them in depth (one each week) in an attempt to learn lessons.

Stew Goodwin has made a career in international investments and has been a lecturer at the Academy for Lifelong Learning for 18 years.
